Spotlight on SwiftDoctor

On Friday afternoon I had the pleasure of catching up with SwiftDoctor’s in-house GP Dr. Bano, and Superintendent Pharmacist, Nas, to chat about their GP-led weight loss service offering.

Yes, they’re new – but this is definitely a company to keep an eye on!  

Overview; TLDR

GP-led services, same day dispatch if all information is received by 12pm, full support for maintenance, and they’ll price match against the list price of any GPhC listed pharmacy. Is this the one we’ve all been waiting for? I’m genuinely about to fall off my seat!

Consultation & Ordering

As with most, you can start your journey by filling out a questionnaire online. As part of this process, you’ll create an account. If you’d prefer to have a consultation first, you can book a meeting directly on the website – either before or after ordering. This is optional for most, but it’s mandatory if you’re not registered with a GP in the UK, or they can’t get access to your care record. They’ll also send an email asking for some photos including: –

1. Photo ID
2. Full length photo in tight clothing

If you’re transferring from another pharmacy and wish to continue your treatment plan with SwiftDoctor, you’ll need to provide them with proof of your previous prescription too.

If you’ve provided all the information and photos required before 12pm, your order will be processed and dispatched the same day.

Re-ordering

3 weeks after ordering you’ll get an email reminder, with a link to the reorder consultation form. If you submit all the required information before 12pm, it’ll be dispatched the same day – otherwise it’ll be dispatched the next day.

Do I need to move up a dose every 4 weeks?

Absolutely not! Everyone is treated as an individual, but you’ll be encouraged to stay on the smallest dose for the longest time possible, as long as the treatment is still effective and you’re losing weight. If you’re not sure whether to remain on your current dose or move up, you can chat with a GP or Pharmacist before ordering to discuss the options available.

Support on Offer from SwiftDoctor

SwiftDoctor offer four different options for contact: WhatsApp, email, phone, or you can use a contact form on the website. You’ll usually get a response within an hour during their opening hours.

They also have a private Facebook community, restricted to only SwiftDoctor patients. This gives you a safe and convenient space – which Dr. Bano is also part of – to ask any questions you may have.

What’s SwiftDoctor’s approach to maintenance plans?

SwiftDoctor are fully supportive of long-term maintenance, with no time limit imposed on how long you can be on the medication. You can transfer from another provider at any point in your journey!

SwiftDoctor offer a maintenance consultation with Dr. Bano once you reach a healthy BMI – or are close to your goal weight. This costs £30, but the fee is refunded from your next order. Ultimately, they will look for you to wean or reach a stable maintenance dose before you reach a BMI of 21.

Can I pick my delivery day with SwiftDoctor?

You can’t pick your delivery day, but you can somewhat rig it – hear me out. They’ll dispatch same day if you order before 12pm, so just fill out your re-order form at 9am the day before you want it, select next day delivery, and you’ll be sorted! At the moment they offer Royal Mail Tracked 24 or next day, but they’re looking into offering other options in the near future.
